Tickets to Borghese Gallery

We are traveling to Rome in mid-September and want to get tickets for a guided tour of the Borghese Gallery. I am seeing a broad range of ticket prices. I went to the official Borghese ticket website of

and it looks like a guided tour is about $30.00 per person (27 euros). Other third-party ticket websites are much more. Has anyone been recently and booked through the official site for a guided tour? Tickets for our date are not yet available so just trying to educate myself when it's time to book them. Any insight or information is appreciated!

Thank you,
~G

I did the official tour and it was great. The guide was an art historian who works at the museum. She covered a little bit of the history of the building and the collection, the major works, and some of the lesser-known works. I did the last tour of the day (5pm) and it lasted about 90 minutes, which left a half-hour or so before the museum closed to go back and take a second look. I think during the day, you're limited to a 2-hour visit, but I'm not sure how or if that's actually enforced since closing time was the limit of my visit.

When you go into the lobby (in the basement), make sure you pick up a radio from the desk, then drop any bags at the baggage check and wait in the "guided tour" area.

Thanks so much for the information. Do you remember how much you paid for the tour? Appreciate the response!

We booked a guided tour for our visit as well (upcoming). As for timing - I could not figure out the Borghese schedule. It is not a rigid set of days (like the colosseum). It seems they open up tranches of dates at a time. If memory serves me, in March/April you could book up to the end of May. But it was only in early/mid May that they then opened up the summer months. For September - I would check the site a least once a week starting in July, but it’s possible they would wait until almost the last minute to open up September bookings.

Thanks so much! Mind sharing what the per ticket price was for the guided tour you will be taking? Do you recall if it mentions the number of people for the tour? Most of what I am seeing is 15 persons or less.

Thanks again!
