Tickets to Accademia and Uffizi in Florence

We plan to visit both of these museums on the same day. We would like to buy tickets online. Any suggestions on times to choose for these? How long will it take to see both? How far apart time wise should we book them? We are not one's to last longer than 2 or so hours at art museums. Just want to see the major pieces.

Thanks.

I'd go to the Accademia first and give yourself no more than an hour there (and then walking time to the Uffizi). We didn't do the Uffizi but I am assuming it is more time consuming, and this way, you won't have to rush through it to make another appointment time!

On our trip to Florence, we spent around 2-1/2 hrs.(in the am) in the Uffizi, but I am an art buff and couldn't drag myself away from the Caravaggio's. And we also visited the cafe for a great cappucino. I agree that the Accademia could be done in way less time. On our trip, we visited the museums on different days. However, we were there for a week. And, definitely book those tickets on line. You don't want to be caught dead on those lines or be shut out of the visit.

I don't know about the Uffizi, but when I have looked for Accademia tickets online, they only offered afternoon time slots (from noon on). If that is also true of the Uffizi, it will compress your available time for visiting both. Hopefully that won't be a problem.

Even if you're not a major art enthusiast you should give yourself 2 hours to see the Uffizi. Their audio-guides are really good and will help you to appreciate the art work. Even our kids thought some of the stories that came along with this guide were very interesting.

Accademia can be done much quicker. We were out of there within 45 minutes.

If you want to reserve morning tickets you probably won't get them online. But they are available if you call them by phone. It's just a two minute phone call during Italian business hours (early morning for you!) with an English speaking operator. Or ask your hotel/B&B to book morning tickets for you.

I'd do the Uffizi first in the morning if you can. You'll spend at least 2 hours there. Then leave enough time for relaxing at a cafe for lunch or a drink.

The Accademia for you will be fast and I'd book one of the last slots in the afternoon.

We visited both last summer on the same day. Did the Accademia first and an hour was plenty but had been here a few years ago too. We probably spent about 3 hrs. at the Uffizi and this was our first visit here. We are not art buffs either but there is lots too see here!

If you call and make your reservations, then you don't pay anything until you pick up your tickets and they have more time options available. Remember that you want to be at each museum about 15 minutes before your scheduled entry time so add that in to your calculations.

Do the Uffizi very early in the day or late in the afternoon to avoid the bulk of the crowds (and large Japanese tour groups, ugh!). I would do it very early in the morning. You will need at least 2 hours there. The Accademia is a quickie. There is not a lot there to see other than the star attraction, "David". There are several ticketing agencies online to choose from and I have found that while one may show no availability in the morning, another one will. Keep trying.

I have made reservations for both of these through our hotel for our visit in June. If I have a reservation, can I bypass lines to purchase tickets once I get there? Or should I still try to buy tickets online? Thanks!

When I went to the Uffizi (early October, 11 am reservation), I had to wait about 1/2 hour to get in after picking up my ticket and going through security. The Uffizi is very small compared to the throngs of visitors, so they limit the number of people going in at any given time. And, as pointed out already, there is a lot more to see.

For those reasons I would go to the Accademia first.

We booked through online yesterday. We requested early time for Uffizi and got 9:15 tickets. They gave us Accademia tickets for 3 p.m., didn't have much of a choice, but this will allow us ample time at Uffizi I'm sure!

Don't worry, Jenny. There is a lot to see between the two, if you need to "kill time." Not to mention lunch.

Hello all- I tried unsuccessfully to purchase tickets on-line through the link on this website. I ended up having to have a friend in Europe do it for me. I now have to post her the 84euro, and to make it even more frustrating, we received the confirmation of the booking, but no vouchers. When we emailed the info help contact, they sent us a simple image, but no vouchers. We are VERY frustrated and wish we would have had our hotel book our museum. We are going to the Accademia one day, and the Uffizi on another. Only times available for August dates were from noon on. So once again no early time to avoid the heat and crowds.

We bought our tickets in advance and it worked out perfectly. We did the one museum in the morning right after it opened. Although I feel that I can go through a museum in two hours, I had my wife and son and friend who are art students with me. I believe we got there at 9 or so and left by noon. We allowed time for lunch and travel and saw the 2nd one by 2:30. We had plenty of time. Be aware it is confusing trying to find the right place to bring your interent reservation and there are tons of lines. You do get into the fast line once you get your tickets.

I got discouraged with the web site, could never get the times I wanted.

I had my hotel manager get my reservations. I always stay at Hotel Aldobrandini (I did everything in email, web site, 39-055-211-866 phone) in Piaza Madonna in Florence. Ignacio, the owner, always gets our reservations and then we pay at the sites. Just give him the times and dates you would like plus a second choice. The B&B is in a former palazzo right at the beginning of the San Lorenzo Mkt ( and close to the Duomo) and only 3 blocks from the train station, simple, affordable and inc breakfast.

Enough on the hotel, we did the Accademia at one of the last ticket times so the crowds were gone and it was so nice to just sit back and look. The "Slaves" are just as marvelous to me as David and there is usually a special exhibit too. The Accademia can be small and magical,I spend all my time in two rooms.
The Uffizi did take about 3 hours, so we did it in the daytime, and had a late lunch befoe the Accademia.

If you already have your hotel or you do 3*, etc, have the manager get your reservations; definitely the easiest way.

fyi..I wish I had rented the audio tape or even joined a tour, the Uffizzi has magnificent art and statuary. It was a little crowded even in Sept, I can't imagine summer. Go early and do something else in the middle of the day, so much to see in Florence
