Tickets for Vatican and Collesium

I have come across a website, italyguides.it, and was wondering if this is a good website to buy tickets in advance for the vatican and the collesium, has anyone used this site?

You absolutely do need advanced tickets for the Collesium, if you don't want to spend all day in line.

A great bet is to purchase the Roma pass which gets you 2 free entries into major cites, discounted entry on others, and public transportation. You can purchase them at nearly every major attraction in the city, and the stations. Google "Roma Pass" for details.

Another option is to go to Palantine Hill which is close by, and purchase tickets there. Lines are much shorter - but depends on time of day/year... and how many people read Rick's books! ;)

You don't need to pre-purchase tickets for the colosseum. If the line is long at the colosseum just go to the palatine hill entrance on via di san gregorio, just past the arch of constantine, to buy your tickets. There is never a line and you won't have to pay a service charge.

I would pre-purchase tickets for the vatican museums. You can either buy tickets or sign up for a tour at:

biglietteriamusei.vatican.va/musei/tickets/do?weblang=en&do

The line to the vatican is always long in the morning but never in the afternoon. That being said, the museums are always busy.

Recommend that you contact ANGEL TOURS (google them) in Rome and arrange Vatican Tours thru them. They are word of mouth biz only and employ Masters and Doctorate students in Art History and the like as your tour guide. Instead of being with a huge group and missing 1/2 of what is said, you can have a small private group tour with them. Angela

As far as getting tickets for the Coliseum goes, you can also get the Rome pass at the entrance to the Forum also as well as Palentine Hill. If you go early in the morning there should be not much if any line. When are you planning to go to Rome? Once you have the ticket you can head straight into the Coliseum, though Palentine Hill and The Forum, are way more interesting. Also, download Rick's self-guided tours for the Forum, Coliseum & the St. Peters, they are wonderful! I was in Rome this past December and January and walked straight up to the ticket window at the Vatican Museum and also at the Forum/Palentine Hill ticket windows, no lines. But depending on when you are going should decide if you want to get tickets ahead of time for the Vatican Museum. Also, I used Rick's trick for leaving from the Sistine Chapel and it saved me a long walk through the rain. Get his Rome guide book, it is a gem. Have fun in Roma.
