I hope someone can help me. I will be in Rome on November 1st (All Saints Day) and I see on the Vatican website that Pope Francis will be celebrating mass at a cemetary in Rome that day. Problem is there is no phone number or email address listed on the website to find out if it will be open to the public, if tickets are required and how I would get tickets if needed. I think that I have looked thoroughly!!! I would love to see him and am only in Rome for a couple of days. Is there anyone that knows if his events outside the Vatican are public and if tickets would be required? And what could I expect of such an event? Any information would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!!
There are two places you can contact that should have information about this sort of event. One is the American Bishop's Office in Rome. The website is www.pnac.org. We arranged our tickets for the papal audience through this office and the sisters there are very helpful. You could also try Santa Susanna church in Rome. This is the church that serves the American expat community and they are also knowledgeable about papal events. It's worth noting that the Vatican is rather, um Byzantine, in its approach to things like planning events, issuing tickets, etc. For example, tickets must be requested in writing, picked up in person, etc. etc.

Angela (great name!), thank you sooo much for your detailed suggestions. I have sent an email and have received an automated response indicating that I should receive an answer in about a week. I did not know where to turn as the Vatican website listed the event but no details. And I am already aware of how the Vatican issues tickets as I attended a Papal audience 10 years ago. So keep your fingers crossed for me that I will have the opportunity to attend. Just not really sure if these types of occasions are open to the public. Thanks again, Angela
