It was announced in late May that an the Colosseum would open the underground of the Colosseum sometime in late August to small groups. Has anyone found out anything more? I would love to get tickets as we will be in Rome in late September. I've checked the ticket sites - pierreci.it and others including private tour companies, but so far the only ticket I could find was for general admission. If anybody knows or hears of anything, I would love to hear from you.

Thanks Steve. However, I've read all of the new articles that came out in late May, early June which basically stated that they would open sometime in late August or early September.
What I really want to know is something more like how do I sign up for the tour? I've searched all of the websites but the only thing I could find is the general admission ticket. I'm assuming that only a limited number of people would be allowed in the area each day so a special ticket would probably be required.
If you hear anything more about please let me know.

Hi Vi,
My husband and I will be in Rome in early September and just last week I asked our guide for the day if she has heard anything about when the underground would be open.
She stated that it still looks like "it is a work in progress" and she believes it will be small escorted groups, but she would let me know as soon as she hears anything.
I will be happy to forward along the info once I have it!
