Tickets for kids for coliseum, forum

I was looking online at the official website for entry tickets. Our family is going in December. The website states that tickets for 18 and under are free to citizens of EU and non-EU countries. I’m assuming that would pertain to US citizens? (As opposed to other non-EU European countries only).

It looks like tickets for December haven’t opened up yet on the official site but I don’t want to buy the wrong tickets.

Hi -
Here's how the restriction for free children's tickets reads on the coopculture website; I'm using text for a general-entry (no guided tour) ticket:

https://www.coopculture.it/en/products/ticket-colosseum-forum-and-palatine-_24h/

"FREE ADMISSION:
...citizens under 18 years old from european union and no-eu countries."

So yes, US citizens under age 18 - meaning age 17 or younger - are free although reservation tickets still must be obtained for them in advance. Again from the website:

"All minors, including those very young children in strollers, will be required to obtain a free ticket for entry to the Colosseum. The free ticket must be booked in advance online and cannot be obtained directly at the ticket office."

So when choosing your adult tickets, choose the number of free tickets you need for your children at the same time; you'll see that option when you go to make your purchase. There's a € 2.00 fee for each ticket, and there is no discount for non-EU young people ages 18 and older.

Free tickets do not apply to all children under 18 if booking tours, however. For instance, the " Full Experience of the Underground and Arena" tour in English....

.... is only free for children under 6; there's a reduced tour fee for children ages 6-17. So, if interested in tours, reference the ticketing requirement for the one you're interested in. BTW, the "Full Experience' ticket is a hot commodity and tends to sell out quickly. Make sense? Oh, and when you go for your visit, be sure to have your children's passports with you for proof of age, especially if they're older teens.
