Tickets for Brancacci Chapel

Is it possible to book tickets for the Brancacci Chapel online? Is there a timed entry ? Is there a limit to the number allowed in - like the Scroveni Chapel in Padua.

After some cursory Googling, there does not appear to be online booking- however, I went there in June of 2014, midday-ish, got in promptly, and was not chased out. I doubt you would have a problem.

Whoops - I found something that says 'reservations required' and their phone # 055 2768224.

The only time I've been we just walked in. We were the only ones there. This certainly isn't like the Uffizi, Borghese, etc. And there were no climate-controlled hoops to jump through. We bought a 'reservation' and walked right in ;-)

Here's some more info, with the caveat that Italian websites in particular aren't the most up-to-date:

Free reservation but mandatory

(lun-sat 9,30-13,00/14,00-17,00 sun/ 9,30-12,30)

If you haven't already found this page, this is the chapel's webpage. Although it says the visits are restricted to only 15 mins long, this may or may not be the case for you...but it's much smaller than the Scrovegni, for instance. We had a 'minder' accompany us, but we had plenty of time to see what we wanted to see (after having spent a lot of time studying them at home prior to our trip, so it was a priority for us to see). FWIW, we had extended reservations at the Scrovegni for 40 mins instead of the usual 15 mins, and I still had to be dragged out of there LOL!

I have visited the chapel which I think is the best thing in Florence half a dozen times, most recently a couple of years ago. There was never a line any time we have gone and we were allowed to stay as long as we wanted, until the tour buses arrived -- when a large crowd arrives they do shuffle the long stayers out. The chapel itself is tiny -- the size of an average sized American bedroom (taller ceilings of course) and 15 people absolutely fills it up -- maybe more than fills it up. It is a joy to be able to get close to the frescos and photograph them. It is a totally wonderful thing.

If your time is very tight then reserving might be prudent but we have never needed to do so. The location is just enough out of the way that the average ticket punching tourist doesn't wander in -- you have to seek it out.

Well, my experience from a couple of years ago is a little different to everyone else's. I went without having made a reservation and was told at the ticket booth to call the number. So I went outside, called the number and booked for right that minute and went back in and got my ticket. Could have been that the ticket seller was just being a stickler (it was not busy by any means) or just one of those things.

LOL, Shirley. Now THAT sounds like Italy! Gotta love it...or it will drive you completely insane.

Coping mechanisms - that's why there's so much wine and gelato available ;-)
