I was wondering if it was a reasonably simple task to buy a ticket for Academia in person the same day as entrance. We do not know what day we will be in Florence during the last week of May. Would probably be buying just an entrance ticket without a tour guide.
Thanks for help
We did this in July 2017. If I recall correctly, the ticket office is across the street from the entrance. We bought our tickets first thing in the morning, with a reservation for mid-afternoon of the same day. The reservation was well worth it as it allowed us to spend our time visiting churches, wandering, and eating a relaxing lunch rather than waiting for hours in line.
Be careful doing this. If it is a busy day, they will be sold out. We went on a day trip in September and were unable to get tickets. Didn't get to see The David. Big let down!
Of course we could have paid 50 plus Euro a person on the street for a tour that included a ticket, but we weren't willing to spend that much. Would have been much better if we had bought tickets online in advance.
Thank you for your replies. I think it probably is unpredictable. I believe I will buy entrance ticket online and just hope it is on a day that I can be in Florence.

We happened to land in Florence around noon and just started walking around to get our bearings. Low and behold we happened upon the Accademia around 4.15-4.30 absolutely no one was there and we went right in and paid right there. Only 2 other people were there inside. So even later in the day is good. Also it is closed Monday's. I would suggest if you are going to the Uffizi Gallery that you do book your tickets in advance as the lines are very long and this gives you a specific entry time.
