Tiburtina station

7 adults arriving at the tiburtina station. Suggestions on getting to our apartment 146 via germanico Rome 00192 Lazio Italy. Maybe a private car would be best but the bus looks easy according to rom2rio. Any thoughts would be helpful. Thanks

You can catch the bus the 4.7 miles and 26 minutes ride. The bus takes you through the Borghese Park and you can get off just NE of the Vatican at your hotel. See Google Maps.

With 7 adults and luggage, if you took a taxi you'd inevitably need two taxis. However, your bus fare may add up to the cost of a couple of taxis. And the convenience might be worth it, not having to wrangle luggage on and off the bus.

We are fans of taxis when arriving and sometimes leaving. It's nice not to have to find your hotel for the first time when you're lugging your bags around.

You took the words right out of my mouth. With 7 people and their bags (even if only carry-on size), and given how crowded Roman buses can get, I'd take either taxis or a pre-booked car. If you are getting taxis, take them only from the official taxi rank. Never even talk to anyone who approaches you about a ride in the station - always make sure you approach the driver.

Have you asked the apartment manager for a suggestion/recommendation?

If possible, go to Termini station instead of Tiburtina station. From Termini, you can take Metro Line A to the Ottaviano (San Pietro) stop and walk 3 blocks to your apartment. Very easy and very inexpensive.

If you must arrive at Tiburtina station, take a train or Metro Line B to Termini and then follow the directions above.

Thanks everyone,. All things considered the private van is in order. We will be arriving at 11 but can't get into the apt till 3, but l'm hoping we could store luggage there till.

Jo, I wouldn't count on that. Rentals don't operate the same way as hotels which are staffed throughout that day. While it's not impossible for the apt. to be ready earlier or the owner willing to meet you before the stated time, I'd have a plan B.

Where are you coming from that you arrive at Tiburtina? Is it a Regionale that terminates there, or a Freccia or Italo train that skips Termini?

There are outfits like nannybag or bagbnb that can store bags near Tiburtina. Termini does have a luggage storage point in the station. But they can run 5 EUR per bag and with 7 people, that could be a big bill for a couple of hours.

If you haven't already done so, consult with your apartment host. If the apartment isn't rented the night before you arrive, they may allow you to check in early. If the apartment needs to be cleaned before you check in, the host may allow you to drop off your bags and then return later to complete the check in process. I've often had good luck with hosts allowing one or the other of these options.

Thanks everyone for all the advice. We're coming in on the bus from Sorrento to Tiburtina. It sounds like the apt is a few minutes from the Ottaviano metro stop, and there is luggage storage near there. I'll have to dig deeper to find out. Maybe the taxi could drop us off there
