Tiber Dinner Cruise in rome

Any info on Rome's Tiber dinner cruise? I spent a birthday dinner on the Seine now would like to try the Tiber. Also, any hotels with excellent amenities, service (congeniality), rooms (view) and location in Rome?

The cruise is a waste of money. The walls are so high you don't see anything. I would skip it and just book a nice dinner on a terrace overlooking the city. As for hotels, I like the Hilton Cavalieri but it's outside the city. It does give wonderful service and has great views of the city but you'll have to take the shuttle into and out of the city each day. You can also try the Hotel Grand de la Minerve, Hotel Capo D'Africa and the Hassler. Donna

I don't know anything about a dinner cruise, but I thought the river looked disgusting and you couldn't pay me to spend any time on it!

From a males perspective, I enjoyed it. However, don't confuse it with what you had in Paris. I did it for 50 euros in '05, decent food but free flowing wine throughout evening. IF The city of Rome could clean up the river I think it could turn into a winner. What made the excursion entertaining were the people involved. I was vacationing with 20 something year old son, I noticed that there were a number of men there with their daughters. My son corrected me, they were "escorts". Made for an interesting evening while the DJ played some modern music to dance to. I'm sure the hotels mentioned by other posters are VERY nice, but one you might consider is a RS favorite close to Vatican Museum; so close, it's right across street named Hotel Alimandi Vaticano especially if you go in the warmest of times,it felt like a freezer compared to others we stayed at. VERY attentive staff, and one of the better buffet breakfasts we've had. They also offer a shuttle to your airport, complimentary I think and ON TIME.

The Tiber is soooo different from the Seine. From a dinner boat on the Seine, there all sorts of beautiful things to see. From the Tiber, not so much. The Tiber seems narrower and lower and the walls seem higher, so it's harder to see out. Also, the buildings in Rome are much shorter than the buildings in Paris. And the navigable part of the Tiber is much much shorter than the Seine. I'd suggest doing something else with that time. Happy travels.

Hotel Alimandi is really a treat and wonderful staff, food, wine and Location Location Location. We treated ourselves a few years ago and it was worth every penny. They even park your car for you

Cruising the Tiber is also like cruising a creek. It's not a big full river like in Paris. Ugly Ugly Ugly

Skip the dinner cruise...definitely not worth it in my opinion & as others have said, it's not close to being the same as the Seine. Have a great time in Rome.
