Three Venice Hotel Choices - With Quoted Prices

We'll be in Venice in about 4 weeks and I've spent WAY too much time reading Rick's Venice 2008, these forums, Tripadvisor, and Venere. I have received price quotes from three choices that are all in Rick's books. Now I'm trying to make a choice:
Pensione Guerrato; Rick stayed here in the Venice episode. I received a price of €100 for an attic room.
Hotel Mercurio; Received a lot of good reviews in the forums here. €70 for a Db when paying cash w/o a view. €80 (cash) with a canal view. They did have scaffolding up blocking the view. I haven't confirmed if they're still up.
Casa Rezzonico; Heath from Everett just got back and recommended this one. €93 for a Superior Db (cash)with S. Barnaba canal view.
Any advice regarding these?

Hey Steve. Well, obviously I'm all for Casa Ressonico. 93 per night is a great price I believe. Lots better than I paid. If its the same room that we had (or similar) the bathroom was HUGE! And there are two windows that looked out over the canal. I loved it! Opening the windows in the Morning and just sitting/standing there was fun. The breakfasts were great out in the garden. However, you might be inside for breakfast durring that time of year. Tell Mateo we said "hi" if this is the place that you stay.

Personally I would not pay extra for a canal view. You will be out of your room sightseeing for the majority of the daylight hours.

I have not stayed at Ca Rezzonico but have read positive reviews of this hotel on another travel board. We made it a point on a trip once in Venice to have a view and I don't think it was worth it. The balcony was very tiny--room for one person. Early next morning there was lots of noise from the boats making deliveries, etc.Plus, as a previous poster mentioned, you will spend very little time in your room.

Stayed at Pensione Guerrato in late Sept. 07. Enjoyed it. Rooms are very clean, staff is very helpful. Good breakfast. Would stay their again.

I am a big fan of Hotel Mercurio. Lovely place, lovely staff and even our "no view" had a nice window out into the courtyard - even though it was roof we looked down on. Even Venice's roofs are cool!

From the sounds of things, it's hard to go wrong with any of them. I hate to go by price alone, and they're all ranked similarly on Tripadvisor (Rezzonico #45, Guerrato #64, and Mercurio #94). Mercurio represents a savings of ~69 EUR over Rezzonico and 90 EUR over Guerrato for our three days.
Guerrato is right in the middle of the action, being near the Rialto Bridge, Mercurio is around the corner from Piaza San Marco, and Rizzonico is is just off to the side and out of the middle of "tourist land". It's going to be a tough choice.
I agree that the view isn't that important as we'll only be there a few days and the hotel will be for sleeping. Size is nice, but friendliness and cleanliness are important to us.
I appreciate the feedback everyone has been giving.

We ended up booking Casa Rezzonico - location won out over cost. Amazingly, Rome is turning out to be a more difficult booking than Venice. The prices are consistently higher and there is less availability.

Another vote for Casa Rezzonico. Husband & I stayed there in 2005 & had a garden view. Loved it as it was clean, big room & great large bath & away from the crowds so very quiet & peaceful. The garden was a big plus too.
