Three nights between Firenze and Camogli?

We are traveling for our fifth time to Italy in May 2025. We have three nights between Firenze and Camogli. We are thinking of Bologna, Parma, or Asti. We love history, art churches, food, and wine, and prefer smaller cities and towns. Do you have any suggestions or somewhere else that we didn't mention.

Consider going to Lucca, or Siena.
I know Siena is not between Florence & Camogli, but it’s a great city, and it offers all the interests you list.

Bologna is known as “the food capital of Italy”
I’ve not been there (yet) but it’s in my bucket list!

Enjoy your time in beautiful Italy!

Siena— for churches, history, art, dining and wine— is a must. There’s a non-stop express bus between Florence and Siena that takes just 75 minutes.

Thank you so much for the useful replies. We have been to Siena and Lucca so were looking for something new. We will look into Parma or Ferrara!

Parma is a great option. Last April we did a half day tour of a parmigiano reggiano maker and a prosciutto crudo maker. So many delicious samples that we did not need lunch. We booked through Emilia Romagna tours/Italygate.

Also in Parma we visited the lovely and historic Teatro Farnese, the Palatine Library, and the National Gallery (with da Vinci’s La Scapigliata). Try the inventive gelato flavors at Ciacco Lab.

Ferrara is on my wish list for a future trip.
