We have a cruise leaving from Civitavecchia next November. Typically, we spend a few days in Rome before or after cruises, but would like to stay somewhere new. Are there any suggestions of towns /villages that are within a $150 taxi trip of FCO, within a hour of Civitavecchia , and have nice accommodations and good restaurants within the town? Any suggestions will be appreciated.
The most obvious answer is Orvieto, but Viterbo is an historic city that's very lived-in as well, and closer to the port.
While there is an increasing tendency for everyone to view distances in Uber-units (I guess from their daily trips home from the after-work outing?), I have no idea how much it costs to get a long, empty vehicle return from a non-standard city in Italy. I think people who take daily Uber rides in the same city tend to fuzz over the "cost" of a one-hour empty return. Since cab drivers really "want" FCO and Civitavecchia trips, you may have to pay a premium for an unusual itinerary.
I think you could use the distance from Civitavecchia to Piazza Navona as a 150 Euro radius, just guessing.
Apparently there is a fixed price of 150 euro for a private transfer from FCO to the Cittavecchia cruise port. Viterbo is further, so I would expect it to be more (and not governed by the fixed-price).
I would not want to be at the mercy of fluctuating Uber prices for the drive to Viterbo. Pre-booked shuttle services are quoting prices in the realm of 220 euro to over 300 euro:

We used a UK company named FindTransfers to book us several private transfers in Italy last September. You enter the start and end destination and number of passengers and luggage requirements, and they put it out to bid by local drivers. It was all very smooth and professional, with the driver waiting for us and holding up a sign with our name. You might see what they come up with:
