Thoughts on Tuscany length of stay

My wife and I are planning a trip to Italy in June. We've both been separately but are planning on a 12 day trip together visiting Venice, Cinque Terra, Siena/Florence and the Tuscan hill towns. We've traveled via RS guidebooks several times and have never been steered wrongly! My question is this, "Will 4-5 days be too long here in the hill towns?" We want to spend a good bit of time in Tuscany as we're both wine enthusiasts, love great oil oil and balsamic vinegar. If everything is "the same", perhaps we should spend 1 less day here and another elsewhere. Thanks for your help!

We spent a long weekend in Florence before moving 30 miles south in Chianti for 5 nights on an agriturismo. We had a 2 bedroom apartment where we could take it easy, do some of our own cooking and drive around the countryside.

4-5 days is perfect with a rental car driving around to the different hill towns. We especially enjoyed San Gimignano and Volterra. Orvieto was another really nice hill town where we caught a train into Rome.

I don't think 4-5 days is too long in Tuscany. I don't feel the towns are all the same. Will you do day trips from your Tuscan base to Siena and Florence? Will you have a car?

I'm going to send you a Private Message with a recommendation.

Every hill town has something unique. In Montalcino, try the Brunello di Montalcino wine. You can find it in other places, but there's something about drinking a wine where it's grown.

4-5 days in Tuscany is not too long. Plenty to do and see. Hopefully, you will have a rental car. Most travelers there just to get enough time to see many of the towns. Go for it.
