Thoughts about visiting the Uffizi & Accademia in the AM vs PM

Editing to make a change:
I've booked the Uffizi at 8:15 on Sunday. We currently have Duomo tour w/ climb at 10:30 - 11:30 on Tuesday. I'm looking at Accademia at 2:15. Is that ridiculous? I would like to have time for the Duomo, Baptistry etc, plus a quick lunch. Is 3.5 hours enough time?

We'll be in Florence for 4 days May 19 - 22, and I'm thinking about when we want to visit Accademia & Uffize (knowing we need to book those two early). My current thought is that on Sunday we'll start with the Uffizi, then possibly Pitti Palace & definitely Boboli Gardens. And then on Tuesday we've already booked a tour of the Duomo & accompanying area at 10:30, so was thinking about booking the Accademia at 2:30 (only time available that day), or on Wednesday there is openings in the late afternoon/evening. Would later than 2:30 be better? Closer to 5 maybe?

Thoughts? Would you visit the Uffizi first thing, and Accademia late in the day?

Yes, I would definitely see the Uffizi in the morning. It takes more stamina and attention than the others (bigger space, more detailed galleries...). The Academia is quite small by comparison and can be easily viewed in an afternoon time slot even if you are tired from other things ;)

The Uffizi is best started as early in the day as practical, before it gets mobbed. You'll have seen some of it before it gets too packed.

And later in the day is perfect for the Accademia - the crowds have come and gone for the day. We almost had the place to ourselves one late afternoon in November 3 years ago.

I will just add that we did the opposite-Uffizi in the afternoon and Accademia in the morning (on different days) and this was perfect for us. Yes, the Uffizi was crowded. BUT, at the end of the day, about 30 min before closing, the crowds disappeared and we had the place to ourselves (and this was in June). We got to enjoy Botticelli's Venus with no one else in the entire room. AMAZING. And we booked first entrance to Accademia and got to see David with very few people around.

I think either way could work, but I just wanted to let you know that we did it the other way and it was great too! Have fun! I loved Florence!
