This from the EU: Focus: Italian citizens returning from abroad and foreign citizens in Italy

Serious stuff.

What rules are valid from March 28 for entry into Italy from abroad?
1. The carrier is responsible: the self-certification on the reasons for the trip ( link to the form ) must also be delivered upon boarding and must contain the reasons for the trip in detail (health, work, absolute necessity), an indication of the place where they will spend the following 14 days of isolation, the personal or private means by which this place will be reached and a mobile telephone number. "Absolute necessity" means the reasons indicated in the FAQ already published on our site.
2. Those arriving from abroad cannot take public means of transport, but only private means of transport (therefore either someone comes to pick him up at the airport, port or station or the person concerned hires a car or, to the extent permitted, takes a taxi. or a rental car with driver). "For transits at the airport and for the rules to follow to pick up people from airports, ports or stations, see the specific faqs".

3. Quarantine must now be done by anyone who enters Italy. So even by those who enter by private vehicle. Those who enter Italy for work can still use the possibility of postponing the start of the quarantine for 72 hours (extendable for another 48 hours), to the extent that this is absolutely necessary.
4. All those who enter from abroad, even by private means, must notify the local health authority responsible for the territory.
5. The isolation can also be spent in a place other than one's home, chosen by the interested party
6. If someone, arriving in Italy, has no place to pass quarantine or is unable to reach him (they cannot come to get him, he cannot find a hotel room to welcome him ...), then he must spend the period of isolation in a place decided by the Civil protection, with expenses to be paid by the interested party.
7. The following are excluded from these rules: cross-border workers, health workers, passengers and freight crews.

As long as these are the rules, international tourism is going to be quite limited, and only to those who can afford 14 days in a hotel with catered meals.

This appears to have no expiration date, that's not good news. That being said, I am still hopeful we can travel on June 10th. Our flights have not been cancelled and I have been communicating with our hotels and they are (understandably) hopeful.
