I am flying out of Rome on New Year's Day and spending NY Eve near the airport. I don't know if there is anything worthwhile to do or see in that area or should I plan to go up into the city center? Would taking a bus be the best way to get around for the day?
In the town of Fiumicino there are many restaurants near the canal that will have NYE dinners with music. In Rome there will be more activities, including the traditional concert at the Circo Massimo.
What time is your flight on New Years Day? That would help me decide where to spend NYE.a taxi from Rome to the airport takes about an hour.
Fiumicino is a great town! Agree its must be fun to stay there on a holiday!!
I'd book a restaurant in advance, however. There are many good ones in different price ranges.
This is a fun place that we go to sometimes; pizza and many other dishes, facing the canal/river:
I am planning to return to Rome on NYE from Foggia in late morning/early afternoon and my flight leaves at 1:30 on 1/1/26.
Are you staying in Foggia? (I'm curious because I've made quite a few trips to Puglia but have not been to that city)
