Things to do in Milan after 6

Hi everyone, I will be arriving in Milan Centrale station after 6 p.m. Is there any attraction still open in Milan at that point? Any hope to see the famous opera house?

We would love to have a tour around the city. Is there any thing of such through public transportation?

What are the things you suggest us to do in Milan in evening after 6 pm on July 5th.

Thank you so much!

I can't think of any attractions that are open after 6 PM on Thursday evenings but the outside of the duomo is spectacular to see later in the evening when it's all lit up. There is a canal area not too far from the duomo piazza that has lots of restaurants and was pretty lively when we were there several years ago. You might head there for a light meal or dinner. Afterwards you could stroll back through the city center to see some of the fashion house store windows, the front piazza of the opera house or the Sforza castle/wall lit up. All of these last locations are very close to the center so you may want to do them first before going to eat. You could also look for evening walking tours.

Also, stores may have an evening opening time so if the department store to the left of the duomo is open, go up to the top floor to see a closeup view of the intricate duomo gargoyles and lacy carvings.

Yes, last spring I found La Rinascente department store near the Duomo open til 10 pm. The famous Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II shopping mall also may be open when you are able to get settled. Window shopping in the fashion district may be great, depending on weather; I think Rick's guidebook gives a route, or possibly it's on this website. It's possible that furniture stores may be open till 7 pm or later, if that interests you. As for LaScala opera house, most performances begin at 8 p.m.; if there are performances on July 5, I can't see them yet online. If you can go, it will be worth it, but of course that could be a tight timeframe. I don't know if the opera house is lit at night, but I would not be surprised. All of these sites are in very close proximity to one another.

Brera Gallery is open till 7:15 pm but that is very tight; check for possible later opening hours though. Brera is a great district for walking and restaurants.

I found public transportation in Milan to be weak compared to other major European cities. So I would investigate either a taxi or look for tours through Trip Advisor (but book with actual tour company) if you want to be driven around.

I loved Milan, unlike some others who frequent this forum.
