I will be in Genoa for approximately 8 days on business and wanted to know if there was anything people would recommend to see while I'm there. I will hike thru CT and go to Pisa & Lucca during a weekend for day trips. Thanks!

We really enjoyed taking the Funiculare Zecca-Righi "up top" for the view over the city and seaport.
The place has a pretty good aquarium, but then so does Atl.
Ah Genoa, the Long Beach of Italy...
We have been to Genoa many times as we have family in Genoa. It is not a touristic city as are Rome and Florence. It is a working man's city--a commercial center. I wouldn't even call it a beautiful city but there are some beautiful areas in it. And the apartment buildings in their pink and yellow colors are characterisic of Genoa.
1)Walk along the promenade and end up at a little neighborhood called Boccadasse. It looks like a little fishing village with colorful small boats.
2) There are some museums although they are not filled with world class art.
3) There are some elegant palazzi like Palazzo Reale that you can tour.
4) Cannetolungo is a street/neighborhood that is ancient and very intriguing to me. It is made up of very narrow lanes and is quite dark even in daytime because the buildings are so close together the sunlight can't get in. Sounds scary but it isn't. It is filled with artican shops and butchers, bakers, grocery stores, etc.
5) Above all, you will eat DELICIOUS food in Genoa! This is the home of Focaccia, Pesto, Ravioli, Trofie (a pasta), and Pandolce (a sweet fruit bread.)Eat as much of these things as you can in your 8 days in Genova! Enjoy!
