The Wine Region of Sicily

Hello!

My husband and I will only be in Sicily for a few days. We are interested in the wine region but aren't sure how to go about it. We will be renting a car and could drive to a few of the wineries but I am not sure if they require reservations or only operate by a tour. If it is too much of a head ache then we may opt for the "Godfather tour" that includes a winery or two on the other side of the island. Any thoughts or recommendations with this?

Thanks!

The wine region of Sicily is pretty much all over the island, although the province of Trapani is the province that produces the most grapes in all of Italy. Below is the list of all wineries in the region.
This portal is in Italian only, but it lists the website of each winery. Just click on the ones in the province you are going. Chances are the individual websites will have an English web page option with all the info you need. Some require reservations, but many take walk in visitors. I visited some without any reservations. Don't remember the names of the ones I visited. It has been a few years.
