My husband and myself have booked a tour to Croatia and Slovenia from 4/22 to 5/2 per Gate1 travel. It starts and ends in Venice.
We will be in Venice (or surrounding area) on our own from 5/2 to 5/6 Departing back to US 5/7
We have been in Venice,Murano and Burano before a few times. This time we would like to explore the Veneto area. Padua,Verona,Vicenza and Lake Garda in 4 days if possible.
We are not sure if it is best to stay in Venice and make day trips by train or to stay in one of the other towns and return to Venice on 5/6.
What would you recommend? and what would be the best itinerary to get the most in the time we have? We do not have reservations for a hotel in any place yet. We like small local pensiones if possible. We would be most grateful for any suggestions a s we need to make reservations etc ASAP.
We love your show on PBS and your insight of Europe.
Thank you so much
Hi Tere,
I think that you could do a day trip from Venice to visit Padua. You should consider Verona as a base for visiting Vincenza and Lake Garda. We loved Verona and stayed at Hotel Torcolo. Have a great trip!
