the Uffizi/Acadamia

we tried to call to make reservations, the number's no longer in service, when we went online, the uffizi site directed us to a 'partner' site where reservations are twice the price--help!

Thanks so much! We're on a cruise, just have that one day in Florence, I hope that'll work for us.

Last time I was in Florence in 2009, there was a ticket window on the walk from the Duomo to the Uffizi down the Via dei Calzaioli. We were able to buy tickets there for the Ufizzi and the Accademia, and they work kind of like a fast pass at an amusement park. They give you an allotted time frame printed on the ticket for that day and you show up during that time period. A number of other people will be there for that pre-booked time, so you just line up with them and head into the museum when the clock strikes...whatever. It appears I paid 14 euro back then for the Uffizi, 10 for the museum and 4 to reserve. It was well worth it, because instead of waiting in line for two hours, we were able to explore Firenze for two hours waiting it was our entry time. I also found the name on my tickets (I still have them) is a now a website. http://www.firenzemusei.it/
Hope this helps.

We were there last week and did he same thing. You can buy your tickets at the widow. They only accept cash.

Our hotel in Florence helped us out. Made the reservations and provided us with the number. Hopefully, it will be smooth as we heading to Florence tomorrow

What number did you try to call? Did you call during Italy normal business hours?

My husband and I were in Florence last summer. The owner of the B&B we stayed at made our Uffizi reservations for us, we just told her the day and time we wanted to go. It worked out so smoothly! You might try this tactic. Hope all goes well for you.

I went through a booking service, Select Italy. I'm sure I paid a premium for it but it was a 5-minute wait at the security stop instead of several hours at the Uffizi. You will need a separate ticket for the Accademia (be sure to stop at the Pinacoteca upstairs), same process.

I agree with the tip about having your B&B host(ess) reserve your tickets. Just got back and the line for the no-reservation tickets was only slightly longer than our line for our reserved tickets :( I must recommend the Pitti Palace, across the river. We actually enjoyed it much more than either the Uffizi or Accademia. Have a great trip!

I forgot to say that the Pitti Palace ticket was good for three days and since we bought it after 16:00 it was only €9 in stead of €12 and it includes the apartments, modern art, older art, and the Boboli Gardens, plus a costume museum! It was the best deal in Florence.

I second that, Firenze Musei is the only site you can buy from. It's a bit confusing at first, and usually they're sold out for a week in advance, but it is the official site and the tickets are the cheapest pre-purchase you can buy. http://www.firenzemusei.it/ Make sure to click the little British flag so you get English, or their attempt at English anyway. ;-) Good luck!
