Haven't been there, Nigel, but it has at least two things going for it: Touring Club recommendation, and it's in Emilia Romagna (food!).

The hystorical centre of castellarano is very nice and hills around the town are beautiful.
During the year they make many festivals, expecially in summer.
Come to visit castellarano and the area!
