I have been trying to purchase tickets for for The Last Supper for Sept. from vivatickets. The first day that I could try was June 11. I tried online and after I clicked on the date to purchase, it stated that 0 tickets were available. I tried calling several times with no success. After being on hold for about 3 minutes, they would disconnect my call. Any suggestions? I know that other places sell them combined with a tour, but that doesn't work for us. I imagine that there is a very slight chance of obtaining them when we arrive in Milan.
Keep trying the phone. That is what I had to do but it was worth the effort as they did have tickets for the day I wanted even though the website said they did not.
Did you make allowance for the time zone difference, 7 hours ahead in Italy from CDT? They only work during opening hours in Milan.
I booked my visit with Viator Tours and was very pleased. They have a variety of options. Tour included a visit to Castle Sforzesco and the the Duomo. http://www.viator.com/tours/Milan/Skip-the-Line-Small-Group-Milan-Walking-Tour-with-da-Vincis-The-Last-Supper-Tickets/d512-3731DAVINCI. Pay in advance. Emailed a Voucher. There were only 15 people on the tour. My time in Milan was limited so this was a perfect way to see the famous sites. Bus was clean, guide was knowledgeable. The viewing of the Last Supper lasted more than 20 minutes. In the refectory with me was a young couple from Rome, a docent and a guard. That was it. It was unreal. Nothing like the hordes of viewers in the Louvre jostling to see Mona. Sat there and admired De Vinci's mural in awed silence. Was also able to enjoy Montorfano's Crucifixion on the opposite wall. Money well spent.
I also took a Viator bus/walking tour of Milan that included the Last Supper, La Scala Opera and museum and several other sites. It was wonderful - I like them so much, I also booked thru them for a walking tour of Venice (included Gondola ride) and a tour of the Vatican.
I was very pleased with their guides and service.
They are a tour consolidator - they don't have their own guides, but consolidate tours.
All were small tours and great.
It looks as if perseverance does pay off. I was finally able to purchase tickets this morning! I am waiting for the e-mail confirmation because after she told me my confirmation number, I was disconnected. She had all my info(credit card, name etc.). so hopefully it will work out. Maybe she was just too busy to say good-by! Thank you to everyone for your responses.
Glad to hear you're making progress.
I am getting a little concerned about my tickets. As I mentioned in an earlier post, I did not receive my confirmation e-mail. I still have not received it. Did it take awhile for other people who booked through the call center? Thanks.
I also book via phone and we had our confirmation back via email within minutes.
I finally have confirmation of my ticket purchase! Two days ago, I e-mailed vivaticket about my problem. I didn't know if it would do any good as the site was for on-line ticket purchase. Today, I received an e-mail from them and it looks like a confirmation to me. Unfortunately, it is in Italian, but the date and price is correct. I guess I should have been more optimistic!
