What a difference a day makes! Wandering around Rome today we saw that the fencing has just been removed from the fountain in front of the Pantheon…it is sparkling clean and the water is flowing! And the scaffolding has been removed from the fountains in Piazza Navona…only the fencing remains around the central Bernini fountain. All of the fountains look so lovely now…I am beyond happy to see them again!
It's always an 'inconvenience' when travelling around Italy and a specific place is even partially hiden by scaffolding or whatever. I'll take the 'inconvenience' because I then see for myself that Italy takes care of their historic sites. Plus, web sites like Rick Steves will alert me when construction and other 'inconveniences' are occuring.
This is great news for people with upcoming trips!
I can see on livecam a finally fence-free fountain in front of the Pantheon. There also looks to be a lot of construction-type activity around Fountain of the 4 Rivers in Piazza Navona late tonight so maybe that fence is about to come down too?
Thanks for the update, jconsol!
