The Firenze Card: 3/19/19 - Can I use it to see all the Duomo Buildings - and if so, how?

My questions about using the Firenze Card at the Duomo Buildings as of 3/19/19:

I’ll be in Florence May 6-10, 2019.

I’m thinking about buying the Firenze Card because it covers all the places I want to see in Florence - Accademia (free reservation now needed even with Firenze Card), Uffizi, Duomo buildings (Museum, Duomo, Cathedral, Baptistry, Campanile – “temporary suspension of priority access” now in effect), Bargello, Basilica di San Croce, Brancacci Chapel, Palazzo Pitti/Palatine Gallery, Boboli Garden.

Re: The Duomo Buildings:

I do NOT plan on climbing the Dome - but I want to see all the Duomo buildings (Museum, Duomo, Cathedral, Baptistry, Campanile).

I understand from the Firenze Card web site home page pop-up box that with the Firenze Card there is now a "Temporary suspension of access priority to the Duomo buildings: Campanile di Giotto, Battistero di S.Giovanni, Cripta di Santa Reparata and Museo dell'Opera del Duomo."

My questions:

If I have a Firenze Card:
1. Can I still enter all the Duomo Buildings for FREE?
2. With the “temporary priority access suspension,” what line do I stand in when I arrive at all the Duomo buildings? Do I stand in a ticket-buying line - or - do I stand in a different line for people who have the Firenze Card?
3. Do I need to pre-book day/time reservations in advance for ANY of the Duomo buildings (Museum, Duomo, Cathedral, Baptistry, Campanile) – or can I just show up and go in?
4. If I do have to make any advance day/time reservations – would I do that online? I don’t see any page on the Duomo web site to just make reservations without buying a “Cumulative Ticket”. Or via email? Or do I have to call? If I have to call – what’s the correct phone number for advance reservations?

Thank you in advance for help with any answers.

Taking a stab at this....

Can I still enter all the Duomo Buildings for FREE?
Yes

With the “temporary priority access suspension,” what line do I stand in when I arrive at all the Duomo buildings?

Note this text from the Firenzecard website (from this page: http://firenzecard.it/index.php?option=com_eventifc3&view=vistas&task=viewplace&idplace=78&tipo=musei&lang=en)

For visiting Baptistery, Dome, Bell Tower, Crypt and Opera del Duomo
Museum you have to go to the ticket office in Piazza San Giovanni 7,
you have to show your Firenzecard and to collect the free ticket to
put in the automatic turnstiles.

This would lead me to believe that once you have your ticket, you proceed to same queues as visitors who pre-purchased tickets from the duomo's website.

Do I need to pre-book day/time reservations in advance for ANY of the Duomo buildings (Museum, Duomo, Cathedral, Baptistry, Campanile) or can I just show up and go in?

The only part of the complex it's even possible to pre-reserve a time for is the dome. The cathedral itself is free for ALL visitors so you will not avoid a queue with the pass at that one.

If I do have to make any advance day/time reservations – would I do that online?
As above, it's not possible to pre-reserve entry times for anything in the complex but the dome.

Kathy:

Thank you for your thorough answers. Very helpful and very much appreciated.

I’m wondering if you’d like to take a stab at another Firenze Card question in regards to the Uffizi Gallery and Pitti Palace:

I know that for entry to the Accademia Gallery, Firenze Card holders now need to make a separate – free - day/time reservation for access (is this considered “priority access”?) starting April 2. The Accademia reservation system won’t be active until then.

  1. Is there a similar need for Firenze Card holders to pre-book a day/time reservation for the Uffizi Gallery – or not? Can Firenze Card holders just show up at Uffizi any day/any time and go directly to the admissions line - or to a separate line for Firenze Card holders - and just show the Card for entry? I don’t see any indication on the Firenze Card web site or the Uffizi official web site about any “temporary Firenze Card restrictions” for Uffizi – but I ask because someone mentioned this restriction on the Trip Advisor forum. Were they just misinformed?
  2. Same question about the Pitti Palace: Is there any need for Firenze Card holders to pre-book a day/time reservation for entry to the Pitti Palace, or can Firenze Card holders just show up any day/any time and go directly to the admissions line - or to a separate line for Firenze Card holders - and just show the Card for entry?

Thanks in advance for any help with these questions.

The Accademia and dome of the duomo are the only two places which require pre-reservation with the pass. This doesn't mean that there may not be a long-ish security queue at the Uffizi. If confused about where to go, just ask an attendant at the entrance. There may also be a sign for ticket/pass holders.

https://www.uffizi.it/en/pages/faq

"How do I enter using the Firenze Card? The Firenze Card entitles the
holder to priority admission in the same way as a visitor with a
ticket including booking. An entry receipt must be collected at the
entrance to the single institutes and used together with the Card."

You shouldn't have any issue at the Pitti as crowds aren't nearly as large there .

You bet! Enjoy fascinating Florence, David!

Just one wee note more? Sometimes things can change in a hurry so do stay a bit close to the museum websites until your trip. For instance, the Accademia's recent requirement for reservations with the card sort of fell out of the sky. 😯

Thanks for the kind words and all the insights/help, Kathy. I'll definitely look for any further updates on the museums' websites.
