Has anyone driven the coast of Italy between Salerno and Bari? Is it worth doing? I have books describing various segments of the drive, but can't really tell if it is scenic or just mostly tedious.
Also, would this route be likely to have a lot of fast moving cars and trucks?

I didn't drive - but was on a tour.
I love that area and really recommend Matera
and that whole area.
It's not tedious, although some parts are less exciting than others.
However to fully appreciate it you need to get off the main highway along the coast and actually see things, otherwise all you will remember is a strip of asphalt with painted stripes on it.
