The Dolomites, where to stay?

My daughter and I would like to spend a week in the Dolomites in mid Sept. Like most of the visitors, we were simply blown away by the breathtaking scenery. Based on Google search, we tentatively put together this hiking list. It is in the order of priorities.

  1. Seceda
  2. Cadini di Misurina
  3. Lago Di Braies
  4. Tre Cime Di Lavaredo
  5. Cinque Torri
  6. Tofana Di Mezzo
  7. Lagazuoi to the Falzarego Pass

While searching for places to stay, I come to realize, it seems that nearly any location I choose as our base, all of these scenic hikes trails are 1-2 hours away by car. Can someone suggest a place, town, village I can search to be close to the trails?
I should say, the list is not definitive, all suggestions are welcome.

Thank you all very much!

You need two bases.

One is in Val Gardena, while the other should be close to Tre Cime. For this second base, it could be Toblach, Bruneck, or Cortina. Cortina is the most expensive location and will host the next Winter Olympics. There are concerns about on-going construction.

BTW, you understand that some of these hikes, including the Tre Cime loop hike, are not that easy, correct? You will need hiking boots and poles.

@Barkinpark, thanks very much for the info and the reminder!
We will definitely wear hiking boots. I have a set of folding carbon fiber trekking poles. I hope it's OK to pack them as carry-on on the plane. We don't plan on checking in our luggage.

Don't put the poles in your carry on! TSA will confiscate them.
