Planning a trip next May to The Dolomites. We are mountain bikers/hikers. What are the must sees? Where do you recommend biking (husband expert rider and I like to cruise and sightsee-yellow trails), hiking, lodging? We prefer to stay in a village (like Muerren, Switzerland) type place with compfy accomodations and great local food. Thank you

See separate post today on the Dolomites ("Day Hikes in the Dolomites"). Val Gardena (Ortisei) is my favorite, but you can't go wrong with most places there.

We stayed in Castelrotto in summer. Nice small town in scenic setting. Rode shuttle bus to lifts up to hiking areas. Extraordinary mountain scenery. Ate at a refugio on the trail. Much info. in RS "Italy" guidebook.
