The Beehive is full :(

For the dates that I will be in Rome the Beehive is full, I am so bummed since everyone here raved about it.

this is a portion of the email I recieved from them:

I'm afraid we are fully booked at The Beehive for those nights. Although I know you were hoping to stay at The Beehive, I wanted to offer you an alternative which is a private room with shared bath at one of our shared apartments. We do have availability for those nights at Clover or Millefiori and the double room rate is 70 Eur per night.

Does anyone have experience at any of these places? It sounds like a great deal, but I don't just want to say yes to them without doing my research first and you all are such a great source of info.

Thanks in advance!

Here is what I found on their website under the faq section?

Is the neighborhood safe?
Clover and Millefiori are located in Rome's ethnic quarter,
historically known as Esquilino and recently known as Rome's
Chinatown. There is a large immigrant population in this
neighborhood and there is also Rome's largest indoor fruit &
vegetable market, Mercato Esquilino, located a block away
from Clover and on the same street as Millefiori. Aesthetically,
it is not the picturesque medieval quarter. As in many parts of
Rome there is graffiti and trash, but we have never found the
area to be dangerous. However, that said, keep in mind that if
you are returning to the apartment past midnight, you must exercise caution and prudence as you would in any other urban center.

Chantielle,

The Beehive is frequently fully booked, so I'm not surprised.

I'm not familiar with the Esquilino area, so can't comment on it. You might have another look at your previous post on "Budget Hotels" to look at some of the other locations that were suggested.

Two properties you could check are the Hostel I mentioned in the other post, or you may have to settle for one of the Hotels listed in the Guidebook. I've found in the past that Rome is often the city I have difficulty finding accommodations. This year I booked a Hotel early (several months ago) and had no problems getting a reservation.

It would be a good idea to book something soon, as the longer you wait the more difficult it will be to find something in your price range. The Hostel that I mentioned in the other post has a double with ensuite available for the dates you specified, but that could change quickly, so if you're interested you may want to book ASAP!

Good luck!

The area around those apartments is a mixed area and some might find it a bit iffy at night while others will find it an interesting flavor of an interesting city. I know your time is very limited. I think their apartments you check in and out of their main office which is about 5 min from the station once you are oriented. The apartments are maybe a 15 min walk from their main office. (On the other side of the station).

Have you checked Hotel Cervia Roma? I am a budget traveler and have stayed their a few different times and while its not fancy, suits me fine. (You might have to climb lots of stairs though). If you take the bathroom down the hall, its pretty cheap by Roman standards. Its not far from the Beehive offices on Via Palestro.
