Does anyone know whether the Circumvesuviana Train from Naples to Herculaneum is included in the Artecard? Isee confusing information on it. I cannot find information to say whether the Circumvesuviana and the UnicoCampania trains are the same. The Aretecard website for the Campania card says that UnicoCampania transportation is included in the card throughout the Campania area. It says nothing about the Circumvesuviana. I have seen some comments on different websites that says the Circumvesuviana is not included in the Campania Artecard.
Does anyone know for sure?
UnicoCampania is neither a train nor a railway company. It's a consortium of public transport companies that sells combined tickets. If EAV (what you call Circumvesuviana) joined the Consortium, the answer is yes.
Edit. It says nothing about the Circumvesuviana? The answer is written on the Artecard page about transports:
TRAVEL AROUND CAMPANIA REGION
Travel by UNICOCAMPANIA public transport around Naples area and Campania Region.
The pass includes:
- bus, trolleybus
- metro line 1 Metro Art, line 2, line 6, funiculars, trams,
- Eav trains Circumflegrea Circumvesuviana and Cumana. The use of public transport is limited to reaching the places included in campania>artecard.
The pass does not include:
- Alibus – Airport connetion
- Sita Sud Lines to Sorrento/Positano/Amalfi (special ticket)
- Bus from Pompeii to Vesuvius ( special ticket)
I'm a great believer in multi-day transit passes. But the (hard to find) line for Artecards at the Naples train station was so long and slow-moving (for example, customers that spoke not a smidgen of Italian or English) that we had to give up on it. Maybe there's a better way to get the card in advance.
Thank you for the replies. Very helpful!
This 3day pass used to be a great value, it’s transportation included the Alibus and the busses on the Amalfi coast. It is not anymore.
How long do you plan to be in the Naples/Amalfi coast area, which sites do you want to visit.
We'll only be in the area for a day and only going to 2 sites. Even adding in the train, it's cheaper to buy the tickets separately.
Glad you figured it out.
