The American Cementery at Tavarnuzze

We are in Florence and want to visit this american cemetery. Wondering if anyone knows the best way to get there. We are at the Hotel Europa.

Look up "American battle monument commission" and you will see under "cemeteries" a list of all the cemeteries, click on Florence and it will tell you how to get there by drive or public transport as well as the hours they are open.

take a taxi from the hotel and ask him to take you to the Cimitero Americano at Tavarnuzze.
The ATAF bus that goes to Tavarnuzze is the no.37 departing from the Palazzo dei Congressi side of the station. However i don't know if it goes all the way to Falciani (that's the name of the place, outside of Tavarnuzze where the Cimitero is). If you have a car, you basically have to go near the Certosa/Impruneta freeway entrance and go toward siena on the via Cassia (dont get on the autopalio freeway). Passed tavarnuzze you'll see the cimitero.

We just went there last week. We took the SATA bus from SMN station. I highly recommend that you do not do this unless you are fluent in Italian! We missed the bus stop that was right in front of the cemetery because we didn't know it was coming up. The bus driver stopped at the next stop and we managed to get back to the cemetery 15 minutes later on another bus. When we decided to leave, we asked the caretaker where the bus stop was for the return trip. he told us it was 3 KM back towards Florence! The road that goes by the cemetery is not pedestrian friendly. The gentleman drove us to the bus stop because he was afraid that we wouldn't make it alive! I recommend going, but take a taxi or drive yourself. You may also be able to arrange for a driver to take you and wait for you.
