My husband and I have 5 days to drive from Maratea on the Golfo di Policastro (south of Salerno) to Venice. We will be driving up the Adriatic Coast and would like suggestions for interesting towns/sites to stop at along the way. Thank you for your help.

As we have not been much along that coast, we can offer little advice except to avoid the one place we HAVE been-- Ravenna

We drove up the Coast from Pescara. A few of the beach resorts were jut starting to open for the season (April). Our main destination was San Marino at that time. We also went to Ravenna (and contrary to the other poster, liked the city) which is known for its mosaics. The water on the Adriatic was a beautiful aqua, the weather was perfect, there were no tourist except us to speak of, so we mostly just R&Red along the coast, as a break from visiting cities, churches, castles, etc. Hope you enjoy the drive.
