Thanks, everyone!

Hello all,

We just returned last night from 10 days in Italy (Venice, Florence, Assisi & Siena) and I wanted to take a minute to say that reading this forum in advance was very helpful. We had been to Italy 12 years ago , but it never hurts to seek information before departure. Thing have changed somewhat, for example the proliferation of selfie-stick vendors every two or three meters in Venice. Not sure who invented those things, but I wish he/she hadn't!

You are right. In London just off the train from Edinburgh, the selfie craze is everywhere and obnoxious especially when making a silly face for the picture. Loved the idiot with the pole straight in front on a very crowded sidewalk walking along talking to the camera and expecting everyone to dodge the camera.

I noticed the selfie stick thing last Sept in Rome...I think it was just ramping up then, as we didn't see any in Venice. I wanted to buy one just so I could have the pleasure of breaking it over my knee - it would have been so satisfying...sigh...glad you enjoyed your trip!
