Thank you Nicole. We finally found a little B&B on Lido by Venice for 55 Euros with shared bathroom but breakfast. For Florence we are still looking. We exhausted all the solutions on airbnb last week. It's a great site though. But i really appreciate your reply. I'll keep looking.

Best of luck with the Florence accom - you'll have to LMK what you did - we are going for our 1st time to Florence, but only 2 nights, so we won't have much time...

I suggest you use venere.com for your Florence pick. You can restrict it to those places that offer a room for under $65 US a night, then sort them by guest ratings. See if this link works. Happy travels.
