Termini Station, Rome to Leonardo Airport, Rome

I'd like to know if it's possible to travel from Rome's Termini Train Station to the main airport. First time in Italy for us. How long is the train ride, do we need to make any transfers. It there such thing as a plane-train. Does it make stops at all terminals? Is taking the train less expensive than a shuttle? Any inormation is greatly appreciated.

It is a dedicated train that runs from Termini to the airport with one stop on the edge of Rome. Twice an hour and about thirty minutes. Current rate is 11E. The fixed rate cab ride is 40E. From the luggage area follows the sign to the little station at the airport. The ticket office is on your immediate right when you enter the waiting area or from the Tabacco shop across the small waiting area.

We took the shuttle from Termini to the Airport and it couldn't have been easier. We bought our tickets the day before by using the automated machines at Termini, but that really wasn't necessary. There are English language machines that are very user-friendly. I highly recommend the shuttle for cost and ease. We did get a little confused once we arrived at the airport because we weren't paying attention and BECAUSE I HADN'T DONE MY HOMEWORK - I assumed it would just "spit us out" at the international terminals. That was my mistake...know how to get to your terminal upon exiting the shuttle and you'll be great.

There is a direct train from Termini to the airport. I think the ride was at least 25 to 35 minutes long. The cost is 11 euros one way. You can buy the ticket at the machines and look for the 'airport' sign in Italian for the gate. It is a long walk from the station to the train because Termini is a very big place. The trains makes one stop at the airport. There are monitors with gate information nearby. The U.S. airlines are on a different terminal so once you get to the airport you have to take a shuttle there. After you are done with all the security lines you have to take another shuttle to the gate.
