Terminals at Rome Airport FCO

I am flying on Delta from Detroit to Rome, then on Alitalia to Catania, Sicily. (The flights are a code share, all branded with Air France.) I only have one hour and 15 minutes during the layover. It looks like I will land in Terminal 3 and depart from Terminal 1. I have one checked bag. I will try to have the Alitalia boarding pass.

Will I have to wait for my checked bag and go through customs? I am concerned that there won't be enough time. Please enlighten and advise!

Thanks, Jan

Assuming you have one ticket. It will be tight. So be prepared to jump the line at immigration. Show your boarding pass to one of the officers managing the line. Your bag will be checked through to Catania. Don't waste time and trust that your original plane seat is near the door. Good luck.

Don't ever put your credit card in and click to buy plane tickets with the kind of short layovers that worry you, though the option you chose was probably cheaper.

However if you miss the connection due to the first flight flight arriving late the airline will just put you on the next flight. There are ten direct flights a day to Catania on Alitalia

Be sure to follow the arrows to Transit rather than Exit. You'll still have to go through immigration but won't exit the secured area.
