train and bus terminals are usually not the safest areas anywhere. someone posted a studio she used very close to the termini area in rome. i emailed her but it bounced back. has anyone stayed in the termini area and/or does anyone have any comment on this? the studio is on the 5th floor of a building, which helps. thanks.
We stayed at a hostel that was about a 5 minute walk to the Termini train station. We went out lots at night and never felt unsafe or scared.
It could have been from the site www.crosspollinate.com. they have many apt-type lodging nr Termini. I walked this area to my hotel and thought it was not particularly seedy. yes there are lots of people and prob pic- pockets around but they are all over Italy and Europe for that manner. If just staying nr a train/bus station makes you queeze don't do it. It can ruin a vacation. I stay at Hotel Accademia in RS bk.
Olivia: I have stayed at the Beehive (hotel/hostel) about 1 block from the train station before. The area is fine (just not so pretty). There are lots of people around at all hours of the day or night so I wouldn't worry walking there at anytime. Even Rick says in his book that he feels safe there. Any other questions, I'm in Miami so don't be afraid to ask.
Just wanted to add I also stayed at the beehive about 2 blocks from the train station, and thought it was actually one of the safer areas of the city. The beehive is great and has very good security. They also do the crosspolinate site and I can't say enough good things about the people who run the hostel/site.
this past april we stayed at the hotel canada 5 min walk to termini, thought all was safe and cool . good luck :):)
thank you guys.
i googled a map of the termini area and actually found the street of beehive (via marghera), it is one street away from my studio. and hotel canada is on the same street (via vicenza) as my studio, though farther from the termini. my 5th floor studio is pretty cool, with a loft, kitchen, even a terrace.
i feel better now. since you guys think it is an average area, i don't think there will be any problem. thanks.
Everytime I go to Rome I stay near Termini. I have always felt safe.
I always say that for different people unsafe means different things.Howver I stayed 3 minutes form termini and I didn't feel unsafe at all. I was out by myself and it was fine.
There were some Asian stores around that area and some people might call that area unsafe because of that, but I don't agree.
We stayed at http://www.gulliversplace.com/ which is a about a 10 minute walk to the Termi station and we walked back and forth at all hours of the day. I never felt unsafe and it was handy to be close to the Termi station, we did a few days trips to other parts of Italy and just went over in the morning and hoped on a train.
