Temps in June

I keep reading how hot Italy is but Rick's book says the average temperature in Rome in June is low 80's. Being from the south, that doesn't sound very hot to me. I'm trying to start planning my wardrobe and I don't know if I need sleeveless tops (which I wear when I'm hot) or short sleeves. We'll also be in Siena, Florence and CT.

Thank you

We were in Florence in late May last year and the CT at the end of May. We had some unusually hot days in Florence during our visit. T-shirts on most days. Same with the CT. No cold days. However, one thing to watch out for is rain. It rained on us in Assisi and we were drenched in Venice. It didn't rain often but it did rain pretty good when it did.

We were in Rome/Florence/CT/Venice the 3rd week of June. Rome was very warm, but not miserable. It was probably 85-90. Florence and CT were very comfortable, around 80, and Venice was about the same. The only time I really remember being uncomfortably warm was in Vatican City, surrounded by hundreds of people and waiting in lots of lines mid-afternoon with the directly over us.

Just remember that a lot of churches in Italy won't let you in with bare arms or shorts, but I wore tanktops and sundresses the rest of the time, with the exception of St. Peters.

Okay, now I get it. It's not the heat so much as the humidity. Thanks everyone for your replies.

What does the humidity level usually run in Italy and Sicily during June?

I'll be in Sicily in June. I'm coming from Florida- and in the summer here the dewpoints run 75 degrees F. or higher (often close to or over 80).
