Temperature in April

Checking historical weather data while I begin to consider what to pack for mid-April trip. We will start in Varenna (temps 50F range) spend time in Florence (mid 60F avg) and finally, Rome (mid 70’s avg).

Curious about your personal experience with early spring weather. Temps? Can you tell me how you dressed? Seems silly but I know that 75 in Rome was rather warm for us but where I live that temp would be very comfortable. Thank you in advance :)

I visited Varenna in March and wore a lined raincoat and never buttoned it. All you need to wear are layers.

I would anticipate more cool weather than warm weather. When we were in and around Florence in mid-May a few years it was generally cool, sunny, and rained slightly each day. We wore light weight rain/wind breaker jacket and hat each day along with long sleeve shirts and a fleece vest.
