Would love to be on the Italian riviera for four days before continuing to Florence. Read this would be good alternative to Cinque Terre. Would be going directly by train from FCO after transatlantic flight. Is it practical and would Tellaro be a good choice for this time of year ! Gracie.
It will be quiet, a good thing, but there is no train station. You can take a train to La Spezia then proceed by bus or taxi. You will need to learn the bus system to get around if you wish to leave Tellaro.
I loved Tellaro (actually stayed in Lerici) but I am an avid hiker and spent my time in Montemarcello park (a fine alternative to CT indeed). If you wish to do day trips, you'll have to take a bus and likely transfer. If I were to return, I would be taking a car.
Check wunderground or a similar website to get weather data, but I would take a risk on early October.
Check bus schedule from Sarzana also.
Tellaro is tiny and consists almost entirely of 2nd homes albeit charming ones There's little to do especially in October w/o a car, and the services are minimal. Better choices would be Lerici, Portovenere, or Levanto.
Agree with the poster above. We visited Tellaro by bus from Lerici but there's not much to do there, especially if it's after the summer season.
