This site was recommended to me to buy an unlocked quad band phone and sim card to use next month in Italy instead of my Verizon z6c. Has anyone had experience with htis company?

RB,
Telestial is only one of the companies that provides "travel SIM's" for use either with one of their phones or user supplied GSM Cell Phone. The phone handset must be an unlocked, quad-band model (purchased on E-Bay or elsewhere).
I normally roam with my home network, so don't have any experience with Telestial or any of the others. I've found that the rates of the "travel SIM's" are not much different than what I pay for roaming so there's not really much benefit. Of course, the key is to limit voice calls (I use text messaging a lot).
You might also check with Verizon as I beleive they are able to provide a rental phone for their customers at fairly reasonable cost (again, limiting use is a good idea, as their roaming rates appear to be slightly higher than those of a GSM network).
Happy travels!
