Telephone store in Rome Airport

Is there a telephone store in FCO airport in Rome. Travel partner wants to buy a phone and I need an Italian Sim card upon arrival.

donna, Are you going to be just staying at the airport, or are you travelling into Roma Termini? There are both TIM and Vodafone shops in Terminal 1, but I'm not sure if these are in the "open" part of the airport or after security? There are definitely Cell shops in Termini. These are located in the shopping mall, which is one floor below track level. Happy travels!

Hi, Ken! You are one of my favorite "go to guys" on here! I'm in my 60's, female, travelling with another female same age and we're not particularly technically cool. We're arriving at FCO. I have a phone that needs a sim card (I've used it before), and she wants to buy a new inexpensive phone.....so we can call each other if we get separated. (LOL) We are staying in the Vaticano neighborhood. It seems to me that the only phone stores are all the way in Terminal 1. I'm thinking we'd be better off buying a phone in the Vatican neighborhood unless there's one close to the Int'l arrival area (which I think is Terminal 5?)........what do you remember? Grazie e mille
Oh.........we're leaving Tuesday!

donna, How are you planning to get from the airport to the Vaticano neighborhood? Will you be passing through Roma Termini station??? As I mentioned, Termini would probably be the easiest place to buy Cell phones and SIM cards. I'm not thoroughly familiar with the shops in the area you'll be staying. Hopefully Ron will spot this post, as I'm he would have more information on that. Hope you have a great trip (BTW, I'm in the same age range). Cheers!

Thank you so much Ken. Unfortunately, I have two bad discs in my back and my friend has arthritis in her feet.
This is our first trip without our non-religious husbands and we plan on doing all of the Church things, and will be using more taxis than public transportation. I also hope RoninRome will see this post. But if not, we will rely on our friends at Alimandi to direct us to the nearest phone store. We've got two "flight legs" before we even depart to Rome, and don't think we can handle the train ride on top of all that. Thus, the taxi to Alimandi.

Thanks, Ken - Donna, the Alimandi is very near the Vatican museums entrance - simply go up a flight of stairs and you are there. If you head in the opposite direction from the Vatican one block, you'll be on Via Candia. On this street there are numerous small phone stores where you can buy a phone for about €29-39. You can also get a SIM card there or even head to some of the Tabacchi shops. The staff at the Alimandi can certainly direct you. The stores are just around the corner. We got one SIM card and our apartment internet service set up from the store near the intersection of Via Germanico and Via Leone IV - about 250 meters from your hotel. The downside is your transaction will probably take place ALL in Italian... so unless you've got a grasp of the language, you might write out your questions, use Google translator, and then print this and carry it with you. The hotel staff can help you "change" all the prompts to English if the phone store can't or won't. If you're arriving from ATL, you'll come into Terminal 3; Terminal 5 at FCO is just for departures. Unfortunately, your route through immigration, luggage, etc. will not allow you head over towards the B gates where most of the phone stores are... so you could go upstairs in the public section of T3 to the Dixon store AFTER you clear security. They sell phones and SIM cards (Vodafone, I believe). See this article for more info: Purchasing a Phone or SIM at FCO Airport. You'll get more support in English at either the airport or the Roma Termini Station but you may get a better price on a phone in the "neighborhoods." Hope that helps.
