I really think it’s not necessary. If I’m not mistaken, the only road tolls are on the Autostrade. Paying tolls is simple. Some places have manned booths and if not paying a toll in cash is easy. You insert the ticket you got at point of entry, the screen shows the amount due. Insert bills or coins. Take your change. Just like a vending machine. Drive away. Though a telepass may make getting through tolls faster, I’ve never bothered with one in 11 trips to Italy since most of my trips were on local roads and not the Autostrade.

Totally unnecessary.
The only toll roads in Tuscany are the A1 (going north to south: Milan-Naples) between Florence and Chiusi; the A11 between Florence and Lucca; and the A12 along the coast from Livorno to Genoa.
I doubt you will use them more than a handful of times, if at all.
I usually select the cash only booth with attendant (white sign displaying black hand holding money), but the one with machine only is easy to use (white sign with money but no black hand). Just insert the bills/coins in the machine (gives change too).
The tolls are not that high for the distances you will be traveling. On average the toll is around 7 euro cents per km, so if you stay within Tuscany your toll will never exceed 10€.
