I have not - but will just note that I’ve also not experienced any significant slowdown while using cash on an average day at toll booths in Italy (or France).

Unless you are driving in July / August, it seems a Small complication for a small convenience at a not-so-small price. If you have a chip&pin credit card you can use the automatic gates, otherwise look for the manned ones.
