In early August I am traveling to Italy with my teenage daughter. What do teen girls wear there? Will she be okay with spaghetti-strap sundresses - with the addition of a shrug/sweater to wear in the churches? Thanks so much for your responses.
From what I have seen on my travels teens wear the same things world wide. She will be OK in a sun dress but will need to cover up for churches and any other religious sites. It's all about respect for the institution. The dress won't be suitable is it is really short. Just use your common sense and I'm sure you won't have a problem. The fact that you are even concerned is a good sign.
I just got back from a trip with my 14-year-old niece. I was really worried about her clothes before going, and the worry was needless. Most of the teenagers were wearing light-weight capris/peddle pushers with cool tops or sundresses as you described. Young and old whose arms were bare could go in the churches with a shawl or scarf over their shoulders. Whatever your daughter wears at home for hot weather will be fine. I would concentrate more on footwear; my niece refused to bring anything but flip-flops and Converse sneakers, and her feet/ankles hurt from so much walking -- the flip-flops were in shreds in just a few days from the cobble stones.
