We're planning a day trip to Pompei Archeological Park from Rome. I know you can take the circumvesuviana train from Napoli Centrale station, but I've read such terrible things about that service (including from RS) that we're trying for other options, including taking the easy Freccialink bus to modern Pompeii train station and just taxi-ing to the archeological park.
So my question: how hard is it to get a taxi to the park from the modern Pompeii station? Are there plentiful taxis at the stand in the mornings? (we'd arrive around 10am). Should we order from the official app in advance? Where do I find the taxi app? (is there a different one from city to city, or is there one for the whole country?).
We're looking into this option because the train times from (and back to) Rome are best going through Napoli Afragola station to modern pompeii, and we'd like to join one of the many tours of the archeological site, which all seem to start at 10.30am.
