Taxi vs. Train from Montepulciano to Florence

I am trying to decide on whether to take a train, or a taxi from Montepulciano. I am aware that a taxi is much more money. I am concerned about the train strikes that are going on in June. Also, I am curious if the drive from Montepulciano to Florence is a particularly scenic one. If so, I might be inclined to take a taxi. Any advice or input? Thanks, Jason

The taxi will take the A1 freeway running alongside the rail line. Nothing spectacular.
There is a train strike during the night of Jun7-Jun8. The strike starts at 10pm on Jun 7 and ends at 6am on June 8. Were you planning to go to Florence at night? I doubt it. So relax and take the train.

Hey, thank you for your response! We are planning on going to Florence on June 27th. When I was trying to book our train tickets, there was a message of some sort on the bottom of the screen saying that certain trains will be on strike June 27th. I would certainly prefer to go by train, just am concerned about whether this strike will affect us on the day we go.

So,when trains go on strike, how long do they last ? And if you already have train reservations ( non refundable ) do they honor them another time ? Our train reservations are for June 28 at 10 am- but taking regional train from Sorrento at or around 7 am..
