taxi vs. ferry from salerno to ravello

Does anyone know the cost of a taxi from the train station in salerno to Ravello? How do I make those arrangements. An alternative would be the ferry to Amalfi and then a taxi to Ravello. Does anyone know the schedule for the ferry? We are going 11Oct.-13Oct. thank you all

I think you are out of luck for the ferry-most stop operating between October and April. We were there in March, and the only one operating was the ferry from Naples to Sorrento and the one to Capri.

The Travelmar ferry boat between Salerno-Concordia Dock and Amalfi/Positano is supposed to still be operating through the end of October (or thereabouts), but crossings are always subject to cancellation for bad weather. It is also possible that the service might be stopped earlier in the month of October if extended bad weather is expected and passenger traffic is very low. As a matter of fact, however, it's actually easier to take the SITA bus from the Salerno train station to Amalfi, even though it takes longer than the ferry boat. Buses run much more frequently throughout the day, from very early morning to late evening, and bad weather won't stop them either. They also cost less. And it's a 5-yard walk from the front doors of the station (versus 400 yards to the dock).

Are you aware that the SITA bus departs hourly from the Salerno train station to AMALFI (75 minutes; 3.60 Euros), and the connecting SITA bus departs hourly from AMALFI for RAVELLO (25 minutes; 2.40 Euros). A taxi will cost you around 100 Euros, and won't be terribly much faster. Luggage can be stowed in the underfloor compartment on the bus. A taxi or hired car would be faster and more convenient, but if you don't have a lot of luggage, the bus would be just as good and a lot less money. The ferry is probably not a good idea. October is the beginning of the "off" season and ferry service is limited.
