Hello - I have a 6AM flight out of VCE and I'm trying to make sure I have transportation options available. Can someone please confirm if taxis are available from Venice at this time of day and what time I would need to leave Venice?
My plan was to get a hotel close to Piazalle Roma as we will have luggage. Is this a good idea? Also, are we better off getting a taxi or confirming in advance with an airport shuttle such as shuttledirect?

That is really early, I would trust only a reserved land taxi or a reserved private water taxi at those hours. Land taxi if you truly do stay close to Piazalle Roma and a water taxi if you do not.
I would let the hotel reserve this for you, they I am sure will know a reliable service tell them your needs when you check in so they can arrange days in advance.
Both options will run 24 hours a day as long as you have reserved them in advance. Neither is cheap.
I imagine either way you would want to be picked up at or slightly before 4 AM
Airport will be slow at this hour but cannot risk cutting it too close.

It has always been perfect. It's only five minutes from the airport and they'll provide a shuttle to the airport for you. They also have a very good restaurant on site if you decide to leave Venice in the late afternoon.
